Rwanda: Kigali

January 6, 2017

To be honest It wasn't easy to get there. I organised the trip by myself and didn't realise how stressful it would be. I had to go back to Belgium to get a new passport, I needed vaccinations against tropical diseases, I had to book a hotel and a taxi, I had to ask my cousin to write me an official invitation letter and apply for a visa. At the same time I had exams at college so yeah, it was stressful. But I made it. After a 13 hour flight from Brussels to Istanbul and from Istanbul to Kigali (the capital of Rwanda) I arrived at two o'clock in the morning in the capital Kigali. Kigali changed a lot since my last visit seven years ago. New and higher buildings have been built, it's like a European city. Only, it's extremely clean! Kigali was one of the first city's in the world to forbid plastic bags in shops and throwing waste on the street is an offence. Europe can learn a thing or two from that!
